OneDrive - Sharing
Right click a file or folder in OneDrive to find options for sharing – Share, Copy Link, and Manage Access.
Copy Link is not very helpful. This creates a link to the file, but by default the link only works for those people who already have access to the file. You can click Settings to change this, but by default this is rarely helpful.
Share (With Specific People)
This is the most straightforward option. You can list people who should have access however, you must also click the icon at the right to determine how much access you want them to have. The default is View-Only.
In this case I gave Adam access to Edit the document.
I can either Invite Adam to the document or Copy Link.
In this example if I Copy Link, only Adam will have access. (Copy Link may be helpful if I want to include the link as part of a separate email.)
Share (With Anyone)
If you want to create a link to share with “Anyone,” click the Settings Gear next to Copy Link.
You can set the link to work for “Anyone.”
You should also set access so they Can Edit, Can View, or Can’t Download the file.
By default, a link for “Anyone” will expire in 90 days, but you can set it to expire sooner.
Apply when ready.
Now if you Copy Link it will work for anyone.
Manage Access
Here you can see which people have access to a document.
You can also change their access if needed.
You can view any Links that exist and modify how much access those links provide.
